To All Baseball Umpires:
I hope this e-mail finds you all in good health and spirits. With the summer baseball season behind us it is time to turn our thoughts to 2009.
Gas prices, although lowering slightly over the past few weeks, have dramatically increased since the beginning of our 5 year contract cycle. As a result, it has been recommended that mileage fees increase by $5 increments for the 2009 baseball season.
Black Plate Coats are encouraged for the 2009 season but will NOT be mandatory. The CBUAO advisory board realizes the expense involved and has decided to temporarily postpone this uniform change.
BLACK WILL BE THE UNIFORM COLOR FOR ALL 2009 CONFERENCE GAMES (D-1, D-2, D-3, AND JUCO) assigned by the CBUAO. Go to www.cbuao.com and click on UNIFORMS. Navy uniforms may be worn for non-conference games. Place your uniform orders now to insure delivery in time for the 2009 season.
We are in the process of ordering hats for the 2009 season. Only 6 and 8 stitch hats will be stocked. Special orders are needed for 4-stitch hats. The deadline for special hat orders is 9/15/08. Use the order form for hats, fleece, and golf shirts at www.cbuao.com. All other uniform items should be ordered through Gerry Davis Sports. Identify yourself as an umpire assigned to CBUAO games.
Camps and clinics are available to all umpires in various locations. Umpires need to be proficient in 3-umpire mechanics in order to be assigned to conference weekends. Openings remain in upcoming camps in Long Island, NY and Orlando, FL. Details and registration information are posted at www.cbuao.com. Reserve your spot now.
Fall baseball opportunities are limited. There is a negotiated fall fee of $101 per game. If you are contacted directly by a coach or administrator, have that person contact the CBUAO office.
Best regards,
Nick
